Special items created to mark special occasions
This ring is in 18ct gold with a 1.83ct emerald and 16 x 2.1mm brilliant-cut diamonds.
The customer wanted a precious ring that would be both a wearable dress ring and something she could pass on to her daughter in due course, She chose this emerald from a small selection of stones of similar value. It wasn't the largest of the stones offered, it was chosen for its good colour and clarity rather than its size.

Emerald & Diamond Ring
This ring is in 18ct gold with a 1.14ct emerald-cut Kanchan sapphire and two 0.24ct brilliant-cut diamonds
This ring was commissioned for an engagement. The sapphire was chosen for its good colour and clarity. The price of diamonds jumps at each advertisable size, e.g. 0.25ct, 0.5ct, 0.75ct or 1.0ct. These diamonds are 0.24ct each. Visually they are indistinguishable from 0.25ct stones but they were around 10% less expensive.
Ruby & Diamond Ring
Diamond & Ruby Ring
3-Emerald Ring
This ring is crafted in 18ct gold with a 1.76ct oval-cut ruby and 14 x 2mm brilliant-cut diamonds.
It was made for the same customer as the emerald and diamond ring above, for a significant birthday. Again, the central stone was chosen from a selection of stones of similar value.
This ring is crafted in 18ct yellow gold with stones set in 18ct white gold. The stones are a 0.60ct diamond and 2 x 3mm Siamese rubies
It was commissioned as an engagement ring and the brief was to maximise the impact of the central diamond while sticking to a strict budget. Diamonds are graded by size, cut, clarity and colour. The customer particularly wanted the central stone to be emerald-cut, a cut that shows any imperfections in the stone.
Typically, the choice of colour for a ring like this would be colour F or G. The perfect colour for a diamond is D, so F and G are a little less than perfect, but so little no one would ever notice. You'd never know it unless you placed it alongside a whiter stone, but this stone is colour J, which saved quite a lot of cost.
Typically, the diamond would be clarity SI. Brilliant cut SI stones have no eye-visible imperfections, but other cuts look better if the stones are even clearer. This one is VS, one grade better than normal, to make the ring sing.
This ring is in 9ct yellow gold with 3 marquise-cut emeralds totalling 0,54ct.
It was made as a birthday gift. Perfect emeralds are extremely rare and so very expensive. These look very pretty but were you to look at them closely you'd see that they are far from perfectly clear and the colour is not quite uniform. Using less than perfect emeralds made it possible to create a very pretty ring within the customer's limited budget.

Ruby Ring
This ring is crafted in 18ct yellow gold with five Siamese rubies totalling 0.75ct
It was made for a customer as an anniversary gift for his wife. The setting echoes a Victorian style that the customer particularly wanted and the rubies are a rich crimson colour that was chosen specially. This colour is not considered the perfect 'pigeon blood' colour for rubies, which helped with the budget.

Opal Cluster Ring
This ring is in 9ct gold with a cluster of 10 x 2.5mm white opals around a matching central 6mm x 4mm oval opal.
It was made to replace an identical ring that was stolen in a burglary. The ring had been the first gift presented to the customer by her husband, so it was important that the original was copied precisely. Thankfully, the customer had a good photograph for me to work from.

White Gold Pendant
This pendant is in 9ct white gold on a white gold chain.
It was made to a design sketched by the customer. Have a look at the Commissioning page to see more details.
