Transformations

Pre-loved jewellery repurposed

This ring was an inherited 22ct wedding band, It had sentimental value but was unwearable as it stood. It was set with 5 x 2mm diamonds to turn it into a wearable ring.

White Gold & Ruby Pendant
22ct Gold & Diamond Ring

The rubies in this pendant came from another inherited item, a 9ct yellow gold pendant in a very old fashioned style. The rubies were reset in 9ct white gold to create a more modern look. It's not usually practical to change the colour of gold so the metal from the original ring was recycled and the value of the gold offset against the cost of the new pendant.

24ct Gold & Topaz Brooch
9ct White Gold Earrings

This unusual piece was made from off-cuts of pure 24ct gold wire left over from the wiring on the lunar lander built in 1968. The wire was provided by the customer who had worked on the Apollo programme at the time. It is set with five topaz stones in slightly different shades of blue. 18ct gold fittings were used on the brooch because 24ct gold would have been too soft for normal wear.

This commission wasn't strictly a transformation. One of this pair of cherished earrings had been lost and I was asked to copy the remaining piece to replace the one that had been lost.
